About The CourseWelcome to the CoursePlus Web site for SPECIAL TOPICS IN BIOCHEMISTRY: GENETIC APPROACHES TO THE STUDY OF STEM CELL BIOLOGY (120.862.01), a course offered by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
This course is intended to expose students to cutting edge topics in Stem Cell Biology through faculty led discussions of primary literature covering major classic and current advances using the Drosophila and Caenorhabditis elegans model organisms. Each discussion will focus on one primary research paper, and critical thinking and evaluative assessment of the literature will be emphasized. Students will be required to read assigned papers and prepare a one page written critique prior to each discussion, and to actively participate in the discussion.
Students with basic science background and knowledge of transcription factors and mechanisms of gene regulation.
